The teams of Generation Europe SA and its sister organisation Generation Europe Foundation work closely together. Hereunder you will find the profiles of both teams.

Catie Catie Thorburn - President of Generation Europe Foundation

Catie Thorburn, a social entrepreneur, is the President of Generation Europe Foundation which she established in 1995. She has been the driving force behind the creation of the Generation Europe’s activities, including the Europa diary which has been published in 28 countries in over 2.4 million copies.

Prior to this she created and ran a small multinational in the field of multilingual document production and took it (Lexitech Inc) onto the New York Stock Exchange in 1986 (Nasdaq), was a Consultant for Eurexpansion (Expansion, Dow Jones and Handelsblatt publishers) at Europe Information Service and thereafter was a Board Member of the “Club de Bruxelles”, a leading European think-tank. She is Scottish and is fluent in English and French.

 

Dom Dominique Chasseur – Pre-press Manager
Dominique has been in charge of pre-press at Generation Europe since 1998 and has been responsible for the graphic design of the Generation Europe Diaries since 2001. As such, she has experience of working in a variety of languages, and is well versed in the art of creating graphic designs that are appropriate to a wide range of cultural and linguistic contexts, as well as being appreciated by young people.

Prior to this she worked in a publishing house where she was responsible for pre-press work and proofing. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve in Germanic studies and also holds a degree in Book Science (specialized in publishing). She is Belgian, and speaks French, Dutch and English.

 

Marie-Hélène Marie-Hélène Cussac – Communication Manager
Marie-Hélène's involvement with GE dated back in 2002 when representing France at the GE Youth Summit on CSR and in 2004 at the communications workshop with the Amsterdam Group. She graduated in musical theory and piano from a French National Conservatory, studied literature and languages at the University of Clermont-Ferrand and at the University of Durham, intercultural communication in the US. She also holds an MA in European politics from the College of Europe.

Marie-Hélène has a strong background in European Affairs. Her experience ranges from work at the European Commission and the College of Europe to PA/PR work. She also runs the French and international Brussels-based Alpbach initiative groups providing scholarships to attend the European Forum Alpbach. She is fluent in French, English and German.

 

Sylvie Sylvie Huysmans - Project Coordinator
Sylvie holds a Bachelor’ s degree in Slavic Studies from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (2001), a Master in European Studies from the European Studies Institute, Brussels (2002) and received, while a Belgian American Educational Foundation Fellow (BAEF) an MA in International Studies from Claremont Graduate University, Los Angeles (2004). Sylvie also completed international programmes and workshops in Poland, the Czech Republic, Norway and in the US.

She started her career working at the European Parliament (Interparliamentary relations, European countries) and joined the Generation Europe team in 2004. She is fluent in French, English and Dutch.

 

Antonin Antonin le Maire - Project Coordinator
Antonin recently joined the Generation Europe team coordinating the Europa Diary. This is a project he became acquainted with during his traineeship at the European Commission in the Human Resources Directorate General (DG EMPL).

Antonin is a graduate from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in psychology & educational sciences with an MA degree in European studies from both the UCL and the Faculté Universitaire de Saint-Louis in Brussels. He is fluent in French and English and also speaks Italian, Russian and Dutch.
