About GE
What do young people really think? For nearly five years now, Generation Europe SA has been collecting young people’s views through surveys, opinion polls, discussion forums and workshops to find out what they think about issues ranging from the future of the workplace and work life balance to the environment and human rights.
We launched Generation Europe SA in 2002 to provide a communication platform for young Europeans aged 19 to 29 to discuss and promote their opinions with public and corporate policy makers. We now have over 8000 registered users on our website interacting with each other and policy makers. It’s free to join and young people get the opportunity to influence public and corporate policy by communicating these opinions to the relevant stakeholders and defining their concerns and priorities.
Generation Europe’s most recent online focus has been on the future of innovation and technology in the workplace through an online survey and focus groups. We also address various other issues such as CSR, development, consumer affairs, lifestyle and European policy. Each month we engage our community in debate on different issues by inviting them to comment on the role and responsibility of regulators, policy makers and industry.
Since 2002, Generation Europe has organized two annual summits: The Future of Employment and The Role of Business in Society. Three participants from each member state and candidate country are elected (via cyber-election) to represent their country and generation. The plenary session is broadcast live from the European Parliament. The objective of GE Summits and Conferences is to engage young people in debates on topical issues and to produce meaningful pan-European youth insight research for event sponsors and partners.
Past surveys and conferences have addressed subjects ranging from “Self-regulation of Alcohol Promotion” and “Young Europeans, Obesity & Lifestyle” to “Youth Opinion & European Politics”. Following these successful projects, a new online survey was launched in June 2005 on the issue of “Integrating People and Technology” of which the results were discussed by participants and national ambassadors, as well as representatives of the various stakeholder groups, at a workshop in London. Part of the “Employing the Next Generation” project, “Part 1: Integrating People and Technology 2006” was recently published to be distributed to the relevant stakeholders.
Generation Europe is represented by national ambassadors in most European countries, helping us reach young people locally as well as keeping our community updated on the various relevant national debates.
